Caring for Metal Tops

  • Daily cleaning can be done with mild soap and water, Windex, or other non-abrasive cleaners.

  • Finish is resistant to damage from alcohol and water. However, make sure to clean up any spills as soon as possible.

  • Do not leave standing water or liquids on the surface for any extended period of time to prevent marks or drink rings.

Maintaining the Finish

  • Artisan Cast tops act much like actual metals, and should be treated as such.

  • The material is meant to show age, though it can be restored using Meguair's metal polish and a clean cotton cloth.

  • Light scratches can be blended out using a fine steel wool pad (0000) in a random motion.

  • Avoid direct food prep or sliding abrasive items across the countertop surface to prevent scratches.

Repairing Scratches

Scuffs and scratches will appear on the metal products. The frequency and severity of which will depend on the finish you choose. For example, copper and aluminum are soft metals and will scratch easily, whereas nickel and stainless steel are harder metals and are less likely to show scratches.

  • Should any marks or scratches appear on your metal top, they can be blended out using a fine steel wool pad (0000) in a random motion.

To Prevent Scratches and Marks:

  • Do not cut directly on the surface; use cutting boards for food prep.

  • Avoid sliding abrasive items across the countertop surface.

  • Artisan cast metal countertops are heat resistant; we recommend using trivets for oven-hot pots and pans. They are safe for contact with boiling water.

Metal Tops can be Repaired On-Site

  • For any deep scratches and severe dings, you may schedule a service technician to repair and blend the marks.

  • The outcome will be fairly unobtrusive.

For Deep Gauges: We can send a fresh repair kit out to be mixed on site. After curing overnight, it be sanded and blended using steel wool.

For Light Scratches: The material may be re-surfaced and scratches can be blded using steel wool up to grade 4/0.

Tarnish or Oxidation: The material is meant to show age, though it can be restore using Meguair's metal polish and a clean cotton cloth.
